Friend of mine has one and has a) been impressed with its flexibility, in terms of the lenses you can use and the control over the camera, and b) has produced some pretty impressive photographs with it.
If I didn't enjoy taking photographs of motor racing, where a DSLR is way more flexible, I would be very tempted to drop my big Nikon camera and lenses and look at getting a GF1.
I think they're excellent as long as you accept the compromises the the m3/4 standard brings.
I have the 20mm f/1.7 lens and it has a circular polariser on it 90% of the time. I'm too lazy to carry a DSLR with me anywhere so for me it's a good fit.
The limitations I can remember offhand compared to a DSLR for me are:
-Slower autofocus
-Electronic manual focus rather than mechanical (although still a ring around the lens, just means it's harder to get right)
-No optical viewfinder and electronic viewfinder a £150 extra
-Poorer high ISO performance
I'll stick a couple of pictures up in a bit if you like. They're not very good because I took them but they might give you an idea.
