Selected as Councillor Candidate
Discussion
This week I have been informed that I have been selected as a candidate for Dringhouses & Woodthorpe Ward, York in next years local elections.
I am very excited and looking forward to the hard work and beating the current Lib Dems who are Excellent at spending money in the city.
So if anyone has any ideas then let me know please.

So which side of the divide are you? (or need I ask!)I am very excited and looking forward to the hard work and beating the current Lib Dems who are Excellent at spending money in the city.

Get rid of the pointless cycle lane at the Clifton Green junction. Its a pointless politically correct idea that has caused nothing, but congestion and more poluution as traffic sits there.
Get rid of the bendy busses, and if you want to free up road space replace them with double deckers, if they are needed at all as most are bloody empty most of the time.
Close Yates, this will help with one of my next gripes.
Get the Police to clamp down on the Chavs, violent drunks, street drinker/beggars, chuggers.
Ask the street cleaners to realise that Skeldergate is a residential street and clean it a little later than 6am every flipping morning!
Make take aways pay for the clean up of the streets in their vicinity and put in more bins.
Not rocket science i'm afraid.

Oh there is plenty of stupid things I have said over the years, I am sure there will be lots more too. But that is just me so not a lot I can change about the past.

I think that is already in the pipeline, best part of £1 million to paint the road, new kurb and signalling. I think procurement didn't go to well there. It would have been better to try and keep the bikes and cars separate with the cycle lanes going through the Homestead and improving a lane all the way down the river with crossings to cross the road.ellroy said:

Absolutely, a few of tourist cities across Europe I have been to use small electric vehicles like large milk carts. These would work very well, as most of the time the buses are empty and they are far too large for the small streets of York.ellroy said:

Not so sure this would go down too well with staff, patrons and owners.ellroy said:

I want to encourage the kids to get involved in the activities and events that are on. Usually a simple task like this can get them motivated to want to be someone so there isn't a wasted generation. I have a few ideas for the drunks, but not sure if they are allowed.ellroy said:

At least it is cleaned, you could say?ellroy said:

There was something written about the bins part of it and the number being installed recently IE a cut. However I would have thought it to save on cleaning expenses.ellroy said:

Good job, as I would struggle with Rocket Science.thinfourth2 said:

I hope to have started making some headway if I win by then. As I hate people who say that, I am persistent though. I don't have any grand political ambitions or ulterior motives for money making, just me.

Re introduce the selling Foie gras into canteens on York council property.
Seriously?mybrainhurts said:
Will you be looking to reintroduce the death penalty in York...?
Technically still exists that you can shoot a Scotsman who is inside the walls with a crossbow or some such daft idea. However I think the courts make argue that other laws supersede this one.Jasandjules said:
Well, my first comment would be
"What made you want to stand up to become a councillor?"
Because those will be the things that you are passionate about and therefore should do something about and can also talk about to others to encourage them to elect you.
Few key things for me"What made you want to stand up to become a councillor?"
Because those will be the things that you are passionate about and therefore should do something about and can also talk about to others to encourage them to elect you.
Traffic, in York certain areas could be sorted with simple traffic light phase alterations. Large big bendy buses regularly break and a great big huge hulking things that are not manoeuvrable around the streets of York. Especially as they are usually virtually empty.
Youth, work experience more accessible and hooking up with all kinds of businesses rather than the usual dull supermarket, shop, etc and using things other than Project Trident. Giving them a better insight into work life, also internships for summer. Encouraging kids to take advantage of the activities on offer and actually going to them to tell them, as well as further ideas coming from them rather than those who don't know.
Business, offer incentives for empty properties to get start-ups in so rather than a wasted space someone can use it if they could get help with things such as rates. Also working alongside businesses to get people to develop brown field sites, such as the wasted site of the barbican which is a theatre that has laid empty and going to ruins for several years now.
These are my views on which I want to aim for, however if others come up from residents then I am flexible.

Just get on with it, right...?

The traffic in York is a joke and no one likes the lib dems :P
IT is terrible, it seems to be getting worse day by day. Well I hope people will see how useless the Lib Dems have been, even just issues over the Barbican. The only people to mess up a done deal and then only come up with something 7 years later while it is wasting away.
