Hi, just about to book some flights, pistonheads usually has the answers to EVERYTHING, with people who've experienced it.

I'm going to aus on emirates (the cheapest by quite a shot), I can fly on a A380, or boeing 777, i like the idea of the A380, because i'm a plane geek, but at 6foot3 and 19 stone, comfort has got to come into it, has anyone flown them both (i know pistonheads has a lot of frequent flyers). It seems they have similar IFE with the airbus having way bigger screens, the 777 claims to have a 34inch pitch with the A380 a 32inch pitch (i'm used to flying thomas cook, to and from vancouver, so both are an improvement) but as we know, numbers dont always add up to everything. What are the seats like, cabin noise, do the headrests go high enough for me to not get headrollback syndrome if i try sleep and anything else you can think of.

Thanks in advance (hopefully)

Nick

Whereabouts (and when) do you plan on travelling from as that WILL make a difference to what aircraft you will fly.

The A380 is the quiestest airplane I have ever been on...no noticable noise difference between taxi-ing and pull pelt down the runway..it's almost wierd. Re the space, I'd still pick the 380. Sit by the window and your head will still be a couple of feet away from the window...there's loads of room as the walls seem to curve out much more than other planes.

Enjoy.

Yup the quietness is the most obvious thing I noticed about the A380. It really is leagues above a 747 for quietness and refinement. Cabin pressure is significantly higher as well so you should feel less drowsy etc.

I've flown on the A380 from Dubai to LHR and was actually able to sleep in economy! I don't usually sleep on planes, at all.

Noise levels were low, seating was very comfortable. thumbup

I'd be choosing to go on the Airbus myself. If you're not aware, seatguru.com will be able to give you some specific information about the planes, might be handy for you when it comes to getting the 'right' seat.
