Help! Broken Driver's Window (4hrs from home)

Hi all, just driven 4hrs down to Salcombe from home (Warwickshire). Near the end of the journey something smashed my drivers window (which then collapsed in against me, cutting my ear!). I am insured with Aviva and they have AutoGlass on the case, they have no glass at the moment (and only 21 recorded TVR incidents in the past!) It looks like I'm going to have to do the long drive home with no window and hope it doesn't rain. Is anyone near here with any advice, are there any specialist dealers in the south-west who I should contact?
Seems a bit useless being insured with Aviva if a broken window causes issues.

Thats a bit of a bugger.
Any idea what caused the window to break?
Best bet will be to find a B+Q and buy some Duck Tape and some plastic sheet, at least you can tape the window up to get you home.
Driving with a broken window is no fun in the rain.

You will probably have trouble finding a drop glass. I would try Bell Hill garage (TVR breakers) near Bath which is not far off your route home . David
If only you had a Griff . You would have had the roof off and the windows down !

Hi Guys, thanks again for the great advice.
I'm not sure what broke the window, I was in the outside lane doing the usual speed when something quickly caught my attention from the outside lane on the opposite carriageway. It looked like it had some orange on it, but it was very quick and smashed the window instantly. Luckily I had my sunglasses on (protected eyes) and leant forward quickly enough that the incoming window only sliced my ear. I think it would have been a pretty painful blast to the face had the window been down (a la Massa). The roof was off, which maybe weakened the window (or made it collapse quicker) as two sides of support were missing.
The glass is all over the car, dashboard, seats and parcel shelf. the back window now has a couple of nicks in it and there are chips (deep) on the drivers door, back wheel arch and all over the boot... All repairable I suppose and I can get rid of the annoying lid-into-the-boot chips whilst I am at it!

Most likely a stone, I had a passenger side window on a Fiesta I had explode after being hit by a stone flicked up from another car.
Certainly gives you a shock!
Or, judging from my commutes on a motorbike it could easily have been some rubbish/ drinks can thrown from the other carriageway. Certainly gives you a shock!

My mate Dave had to drive this in the rain back to Ullapool where we stuck a cover on it and drove home (3 hours) in my car then had to go back with a trailer for it next day. Don't think it the drive without the windscreen was much fun
On the bright side - wasn't my car
ETA we'd removed the screen (in many bits) before attempting to move it.
