Zo6 which year to buy?
Discussion
The only advantanges of a 2004 over the 2002/3 is the carbon bonnet and changed sachs shocks.
The 2003 has special 50th anniversary badging, but apart from that is exactly the same as the 2002, the 2001 is the 385bhp as opposed to 405bhp 2002- cars.
Regarding the paint scheme, it will be a sort after car in a few years time. I have seen the scheme on the car and it looks okay, but personally, it doesn't float my boat.

Saw your posting on the Viper site regarding which is easier to own a Viper or a Z06?
Depends on what you want to do with it.
Here is my table.
Z06 Viper
Performance 10 10
Driveability 10 8
Comfort 10 7 (proper aircon)
Handling 8 8
Posing 9 10
Lots of miles 10 7
Motorway use 9 6
Exhaust noise 9 5 (unless it has a Borla)
Economy 10 9
Visibility 8 5
I couldn't drive the Viper everyday, as I can never get the seat in the right place for me to be comfortable, you need the left leg of Arnie to be able to use the clutch in traffic and I find the handling is very nervous.
If you want to be the hero of every child from about 5 upwards (there is no point at which men stop being a child), then the Viper out scores the Z06.
If you want an everyday driving car get the Z06, if you want a posing down the pub once a month in the summer get a Viper.
I bet you that not one Viper owner in the UK uses their car as a daily driver. Whereas most C5 owners use their cars daily.

Just remember that the 2001 Z06 was never offered with the HUD. The 2002 basically had the following differences. Bigger intake, descreened MAF, hollow exhaust valves. more aggressive cam, twin pup cats deleted in favour of a more efficient type of cat and revised rear shocks to soften the ride. HUD was stock fitment on these models.
I was tempted by a Viper too but there are many reasons why I didn't. Practicality, handling, parts prices and an overall view from road tests that the Z06 was always the better car. Couldn't broach firing up an 8 litre to go and get a pint of milk either. LOL.
