Can anyone reccomend a decent hotel in Paris? I've tried searching on Google ect. and there is just so many to choose from. Im looking at staying as close to the Eiffel Tower as possible.

Not overly close to the Eiffel Tower, however I was extremely impressed with the Hotel du Chat Noir... Very arty/cool and close to the Moulin Rouge. Decently priced for such a scandalously-priced city and lovely rooms.

Hotel Le Tourville was nice, but a few years ago. Not too pricey and a small 'boutique' type hotel. A few blocks from the Eiffel Tower.

Stayed here http://www.ares-paris-hotel.com/index.html in March this year. Very nice boutique hotel about 5 mins walk from the Eiffel Tower: definitely recommended. Also highly recommended is the Paris tour on segways which is expensive but is huge fun.

We stayed here a couple of years ago, on a PH recommend.

VERY close to Eiffel Tower, and cosy enough. They don't have their own parking (that was my priority too, as I'd only had my TVR a week at that time!) but hotels with parking are hard to find. All their guests use a public underground car park just round the corner, which, although I wasn't comfortable about it at first, turned out to be very bright and secure... and the accoustics made my tiv sound great!

Looking at tagging 3 nights in Paris on to the end of a weeks honeymoon in Greece this August. Spotted the Ares from this thread and from it's #10 ranking on Trip Advisor.

Any advice?

It's gone up the rankings a few since we were there. We thought it was excellent. Don't bother with breakfast: opposite the nearest Metro station (can't recall the name) is an excellent Patisserie. Bob in there for croissants and choc-au-pain and eat them whilst you tube to wherever you want to go that morning. Also the restaurant on the first platform of the Eiffel Tower is very, very good and utterly awesome if you reserve a window seat for an hour before sunset.

The Jules Verne place?

We went there years back for Dad's 50th but I think I was too much of a surely teenager to appreciate it properly. I asked Mum how much it cost over the weekend and she just laughed at me. frown

No. 58 Tour Eiffel. (The JV one is even higher, and was closed when we were there) Both can be booked through this:

http://www.restaurants-toureiffel.com/english/rest...

Our meal for two a la carte with a couple of bottles was around €200 and worth every cent.

That Jules Verne restaurant has become seriously expensive. It's now close to €500 for a meal for two with medium level wines. I've only eaten there once and it was really good but €250 per head is excessive.

Le Meurice Hotel is excellent and has a view of the Eiffel Tower from the rooms at the front. It has become a bit expensive since the refurb though. The Hotel Brighton, a few doors along in an identical building that Le Meurice used to occupy is about half the price with the same views. Not great service though...

Sort of depends on your budget but Le Grand is excellent.

Gone and booked four nights here in August, looks like a cracking place in a good location and we'll check out your suggestion for breakfast every morning. Will check at the other resturatant on the Effiel Tower, the cheaper one, but our attendance might depend rather on wedding presents!

Can I just say, that the Hotel Ares as suggested was a top quality suggestion, brilliant hotel and we loved it!

Didn't go for a big swanky dinner anywhere but found some top quality "local" places that weren't full of tourists (except us!)

Cheers for the recommendation!
