Checking clutch fluid level on V8?

Can't find it in the bible, search function on here is a pain.

Can anyone tell me (simply) how to check the level / what the level should be?

1. Open the cap (this can be very difficult on mine.)
2. Fill to the end of the raised groove (you can't get much more in without it spilling over anyway).
3. Over filling is not a problem IMO, unless it spills over.

Graham is actually heading off to France at the moment, so I'm the one having to sort the car out...now being a semi-typical female (but with a fair amount of car sense)...Can I just 'top up' the fluid level or will i need to bleed it and top it up?

I think that fluid has gone somewhere - it doesn't evaporate!

Look at the carpet at the back of the clutch pedal - if there is fluid on the carpet be careful how you clean it up as the fluid takes paintwork off - don't put any cloths near the car paintwork, or touch the car with it on your fingers.

Personally I would have both master and slave cylinder replaced and not bother trying to work out which one is at fault (I'll eat my TVR if one hasn't given up).

Someone else will be along to recommend a cheap parts source.

What breakdown cover do you have? I'm thinking either they will come and fix it, or take you to a trustworthy garage.

Alternatively are you in the TVR Car Club?

I've just been out to have a look and the arm of the clutch peddle is damp and so is the carpet in the bottom of the footwell, but not behind the peddle...



neither of us have the know-how on how to fix something like this so it's likely to be a trip down to Dulfords...anyone want to place bets on if it I can get there?

Its probably running down the clutch pedal and dripping off the end.
If the clutch is still working then it would be worth a bit of a top up before you go I think.
I'd also check your breakdown cover before you go.
How far is the trip?

Also be wary of where you are walking - brake fluid is not a particulary nice substance to be paddling around, and it may not do your shoes any good either
