Vauxhall Corsa C Diesel questions

Hello,
I am chopping in my E46 330ci Sport in a couple of months in the search for somethign economical and cheap to insure so i can save for a house move.
One of the cars that has crossed my mind is a Corsa C 1.7CDTI SXI and was wondering what owners views are on them? Alternatively, there is the smaller engined 1.3 CDTI SXI that are also quite cheap and cheerful.
Are there any reliability issues with either, what MPG do people realistically get out of them and are they ridiculously slow?
With both, are tuning boxes (i'd make sure i'd buy a decent one) a ticket to an early grave with these engines or are they durable enough?
Thoughts and advices would be greatly appreciated.
