Hello ph,
I know this is a long shot but,
Well the fridge freezer was left slightly open -freezer conpartment- since 10pm until now
(1am) and it's started beeping! confused why? Still has indicated -10 displayed on the small lcd screen at the top.
It's a electrolux inspire.
Why is it beeping?
And will turning it on and off at the plug stop it? (Havent yet tryed it, it's at my gf's house and she can't move the fridge to get to the plug!)

From the films i've seen, that means the viruses/zombies are defrosting, and everyone but one person (usually you) will be dead overnight.

I'd hide all the kitchen knives, and get a baseball bat ready.

In the meantime, whilst you are waiting for the bloodbath, google the manufacturer model name and see if you can find a manual which should explain what the warnings are.

hehe
I trying that, was linked to a site called service force, linked from the offical electrolux web site, there's only one "refrigerator" manual for the electrolux brand, not too helpfull at all. tbh

[food geek]All frozen food should be kept at a temprature of below -16 (or -15.8 or something equally anal) hence freezers tending to stay between -16 and -25. [/food geek]
Your freezer is alerting you that it is above that temprature in order that you can get really fking annoyed with the beeping, then unplug it and allow the food to warm up even further and then go off/give you the sts when you eat it.

Thats what i was thinking, first though, but when she said it is still a indicated -10 on the display, dident seam too bad. confused
You think it will simply stop when it gets cold enough?
Anoying really because i would just pull it out and turn plug on and off, see it that sorted it.

haha thanks f that,
Thought she said 10 degree at 1st, i was like yikesTake all the food out and throw most, and put rest in fridge to eat for tomorrow.
But at -10 now, been cooling for 3 hours, is the food going to be ok? With it part deforsting and then being refrigerated again.

Yep, should be. If your OH runs a catering business from her kitchen there may be more of an issue. wink

The ever present rule of food still stands, if your not sure about eating it yourself, feed it to someone else.

We have one at work that goes off all the time and it's so annoying, the up/down thing is how it turns it off!

Haha, that al be me then. Right so at -10 for 3 hours... Totally fine, nothing to worry about? And you think the beeping will stop when it gets to -15.5 which is the minimum it should be?

Yep, although my experience is more with business stuff than home stuff. the will almost certainly be a mute/reset button somewhere. if you cant reach the plug why not just drop the fuse to that whole room from the board and then turn it back on again?

Oh and freezers are unsurprisingly very well insulated, you should be able to unplug it for 6-12 hours depending on size without all the food spoiling, provided you DO NOT open the door during that time to check it's still cold.

don't know about your fridge freezer, but my has a button to 1. Switch off the alarm, and 2. 'Super Cool' for these sorts of incidents where wit will supercool to get your fridge or freezer back to correct temprature as soon as possible. have a look round for the buttons - mine are under a flap at the top of the unit.

Thanks everyone.
It's fine now she can rest assured. It was still beeping up until 5 mins ago, it stopped when the little screen at the top read -12.
Thanks again.
