More driveway advice! Shingle thoughts.......
Discussion
I have a moderately large driveway which wasn't really laid properly by the previous owners. It's basically shingle but straight on to earth below - so weeds are constantly coming through, despite powerful weed killers being applied.
My previous driveway had not only scalpings underneath, but also a sheet of material to limit the weeds.
Is there a solution to this other than digging it all up and starting again?!
Don't sell the strimmer.
Only joking, the only real way to do it is to dig it up and start again or a cheap alternative is to scrape back the existing stone and put down a weed membrane and, recover with the stone, ideally 50 - 75 mm thick.
Membrane ( geotextile ) costs about 0.75p per m2, hope that helps.
