We're heading downn there in a couple of weeks in two Lotuses and are planning to drive the Targa Florio route. Someone mentioned to me about a restaurant run by a previous driver/winner of the event which is worth a visit, I'm presuming somewhere close by.

Does it ring any bells with anyone please?

I can't help with specifics with regard to the restaurant owner, but I suspect it'll be one of the following if he's a Targa winner:

Carlo Maria Abate
Colin Davis
Nino Vaccarella
Vic Elford
Udo Schütz
Brian Redman
Toine Hezemans
Arturo Merzario
Sandro Munari
Herbert Müller
Gijs van Lennep

Google may be your friend with the restaurant name?

Thank you - you got me thinking again and I found it - it was Antonio Pucci who I think won in 64 in a Porsche.

The restaurant is the Villa Padura in Castellana.

Cheers smile

Cant add much about the resturant, but Sicily is amazing, and there are some amazing roads though the villages colse to and around etna. Also worth driving upto Erice in the north west, fantastic road up and good views and town at the top.

Yeah we're really looking forward to it - never been before. Etna is on the list to visit, as is Agrigento. Also Enna and the Canadian War Graves near there. We will obviously be driving the Targa Florio route too, along with parts of the Mille Miglia en route through Italy, and just generally having a look around the island - we have 5 days there so should get a real feel for the place.
