Does anyone have any more info or an opinion on the the new A1 Grand Prix series being set up by Sheikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum, Brian Menell and Antonio Teixeira. I understand they have placed an order for 30 cars with Lola and are to all use the same 3.5 l engine plus no electronic aids.

They are supposed to have a launch here in Dubai on the 30th of March. If I hear any more form this side of the world I will let you know.

personally i think it will go the same way as the "premier F1" championship launched a while ago but is strangely quiet now.

lets face it, bernie is so powerful he would exercise that power to ensure that anything likely to challenge F1 would fail.

it might well be luanched, teams will enter but in lalll honesty i cant see it happening. what with formula nippon, formula 3000 (or whatever it is) the f3000 euroseries and the formula renault v6 championships, i think a number of "big" single seaters championships are already on borrowed time.

Does anyone else here remember the other GP rival touted a few years ago, the link up with football clubs?

I think Leeds signed up for it, now we know where the money went, racing is an expensive game, more so when you don't actually go racing
