Anyone experienced anything like this ?

Im getting what appears to be a very severe misfire or hesitation which im sure is fuel
related. Driving along and suddenly the engine hesitates i can feel it on the throttle and if i adjust it either lift off or give it more then it seems to drive through it. Im sure its
fuel related and i have had the potentiometer changed some time ago and it seemed to be ok for a time after that but its back again.
It doesn't always happen when applying more throttle ie; exiting a roundabout but can happen when driving at steady throttle setting on a nice flat straight road could it just be the potentiometer again ?

regards Jim

It definitely sounds like an electrical problemm to me.

I had an issue where the coil wires had melted over time and once the car was at temp. they would short and cause a misfire initially and then the whole thing to cut out.

You may have something similar. So I would have a good look at the wiring.

Cheers

Thanks, think i will check out the ignition
first, plug leads, rotor etc then if its still
the same i will go with the pot.

I have what sounds like almost exactly the same problem except mine will not idle when cold either. Changed the Throttle position sensor, cleaned out the air bypass valve, still no better. So which wires did you fiddle with ????

HAd this problem on my S3 and after all the usual checks you have talked about it was still happening.
In the end i called out a mobile tuning company, who found it instantly,A faulty connector that plugs into the EMU/ECU charged me about £40 quid for the part(which was from ford i believe)and 25-30 quid for the tune and fault finding.
Could be completlry different to mine,Make sure u deffiantly check the pot, fuel filter etc.
