Bulk buying Champagne?

As part of my new business venture, we'll be giving a (ahem) free bottle or 1/2 bottle of Champers with every order.....therefore, I'm hoping we'll need a lot of bottles!

Is there anyone on here that can get good rates on average quality Champers or Brut?

Tesco are selling Lanson Black Label half price at the mo... £14.74 a bottle! Promotion runs until the 30th August.

If your not too worried about brand names Bibendium do some nice stuff. Plus you could probably get it cheaper still if you were to set up an account with them through your work.

If you can arrange the time, travel to France, even if just a ferry crossing (Majestic used to pay for your crossing if you pre-booked over £300 worth), you can save a lot this way. If you have even more time, travel to Champagne and buy direct, you'll save even more and could potentially make a solid contact if you hope to bring lots of repeat business.

My Dad lives in the Champagne region of France. The Champagne we get is very nice and Ive only seen one UK website selling it and they have it for sale at £315 a case (6 bottles). I can get that very same case for 87 Euros

lots of fantastic champagne houses near Epaney or Riems

going rate is about 13euro a bottle
I'm generally not a fan of champagne but can recommend the Rose & cuvee Marine from this couple

Looking at how much UK sites sell Champagne for Im seriously considering setting up my own site!! I mean, I can get a good quality bottle for £11.90, sell it for between £25-£30. Not a bad profit really. Just need to work out the best way of getting it shipped over here.

Then add duty (£26+/- per 9 litres) and VAT at today's rate. Plus logistics etc.

Why not go British? Supporting local industry and all that. We have good soil structure for sparkling wine. Just avoid Denbies!

Try Bibendum Vineyard as one or Google another as there was one that won something recently?
