I know that there have been forums regarding the G12 and I have even begged GB via pistonheads to find a way to test/photo a G12. So here are my questions now that there is a dedicated Ginetta forum:
1) What is it liketo drive?
2) Which is closer to the Elise--the G4 or G12?
3) Any pictures for the unitiated?
4) Any good books/articles about the G12 out there?
5) Wasn't there a G12 prototype that was being deveolped--based off of a design form the 60's?

My thoughts exactly! It may get quite on this once in a while but this car will not stop taughting some PH'ers. The G12 is too tempting to just ignore and say awh it doesn't pass SVA. There's got to be a way and, jpf, theoretically we should be able to get the G12 in the US I think. Seems like Ginetta has imploded on the net as I can not find any of the old webpages. (any links?)

I look forward to seeing a Ginetta or two complete in the British GT Championship.

As we can't get any road legal G12s in the UK, the only chance I'd have of testing one for PH is if some G12 owner was stupid - er, kind - enough to let me loose in it on the track.

Not very likely, but I'm open to offers.

I know that the majority of interest being shown here is in the older model Dare cars, but if you are at the GT meets, don't forget that there are a couple of Ginetta championship races (G20 race cars). Some of the closest racing of the day so well worth a look.

Re your question about the 60's G12 Prototype. If you're talking about the G12P designed by Richard Petit and featured in "Ginetta-The Illustrated History", the good news is that a new prototype is currently being developed from the moulds. The prototype is being built to SVA specification, so it will be a road car. Watch this space.........

I don't want to intrude on anyone's private enjoyment of their violent sport cars but doesn't someone here know somebody named "Mark" who has an orange G12? Hasn't he handed his car over to others to race in! There are a few other racers with G12's too.

Should I point you to the webpage with their names? Maybe the cars are long gone today, sold, crashed or something.

All right. Like I said I don't know if this info is dated or not. I could just write the guy's full name but I feel a little guilty printing it and not even knowing him but I figure if it is on another website I can show you that.

www.ginetta.co.uk/Pages/newsarchive02.htm

Scroll down (ignore the stretch Ginetta limo thing) to the orange car #32 there should be his full name in the text underneath the photo. Below that there is another gentleman named George with a white G12. It sounds like #32 has a wicked crash box Hewland.

GB, glad your listening to us Ginetta fans. Thanks. (You must be a PH agent?)

O/T There is a yellow with Union Jack Ginetta that crushed the competition of much more powerful cars at the California Speedway.

Thanks PiB. Will contact Cottage Classics and see if they can put me in touch with any willing G12 owners.

Give 'em a chance jpf!

Cottage Classics are probably the top UK company for classic Ginettas.

Just wish I could afford a G32 (1.9 Specialised Engines job).

Thanks G-27. I'm sure the reserve will be above my meagre limit though (I'd expect it to go for around the £3-3.5k mark).

Also need something rather more practical at the moment i.e. something with a bit more load space.

Graham

If you want a car with a bit of space for not much money there is a G30 on Exchange and Mart for £750.

Hi
If any of you can tell me how to upload a picture to this site, I have a number of photographs of the replica G12P that I think was referred to earlier and is being constructed in Scotland.

I saw both the moulds and the panels laid on the chassis ready for assembly, although the chassis still needed some minor finishing.

Hi Tony, and welcome to PH. Knowledgable Ginetta fans always welcome!

Regarding photos, you don't actually upload them to PistonHeads. What you need to do is find somewhere on the web to host them (such as your own site or Fotango) and then use an HTML link to them in your post so that they show up on here.

If you want to see what this code looks like, just find a post with a photo, click on the 'reply' button and you'll see it in the pop up window.
