All over the country are volunteer groups, NVQ Courses and employed teams of people, all interested in conservation and all willing to this this kind of stuff for free (or as part of their day job).

Where does the £190k get spent on a "project" like this!? It's a few poles and some wire mesh isn't it? [/rhetorical question]

I'm assuming:

Managers
Project Managers
Site Coordinators
Health and Safety Advisors
etc etc etc ad infinitum...

Don't be silly!....the price includes dormouse training and orientation, and a Mad Hatter's tea party.

I don't have a problem with the bridge but rather its cost. Only in government-world do a few poles and a bit of mesh cost the thick end of £190,000

If a voluntary organisation were building that, it would have cost no more than £10,000.

I seem to remember there was a Bill Bailey show "Wild Thing I Love You" where he and a team built a dormouse bridge I am almost certain it cost one hell of a lot less than that. But then a TV show or volunteer thing can mean freebie work is done
