Short break in Scotland - recommendations?
Discussion
I'm driving up to Glasgow on Saturday and will be staying in Scotland for a few days. After Saturday night in Glasgow I'd like to find something relatively nearby and scenic that offers lots of opportunities for doing outdoors stuff - climbing, walking, maybe some canoeing? Nice local pub would be good too
B&B's fine as its all being done on a budget so if you have any suggestions/recommendations for accommodation then please fire away!
I'm thinking of somewhere either lower west coast (Girvan, Loch Ryan?), or perhaps just heading north to one of the towns on Loch Lomond....

George Hotel in Inveraray would be my vote if you're thinking of venturing up by Loch Lomond (though a bit more than B&B rates). Drive up via Loch Lomond and the "Rest and be Thankful" road (photo opportunity at the summit).
Plenty of outdoor possibilities on trip up or in the general area.
If its still open I found the Auchindrain Township (a former township which is now an outdoors museum) surprisingly intriguing just down the road from Inverary.
