Carbon bottle cages?

I need a water bottle cage for my Felt road bike and wondered if its actually worth splashing out on a carbon one? If so what do ppl recommend?

On the other hand whats the cheaper alternative to a carbon cage that looks pretty good?

I've used a few different sorts made from various materials.

My current preference is for the Specialized Rib Cage. They're cheap and extremely grippy. Plastic I think, not that it matters.

I had some Lifeline Titanium ones which were very light and looked nice but when one broke due to fatigue it looked like it was just a titanium coloured wrap around an inner core of steel.

The Specialized one looks very good for the price! Im all for saving weight but id much prefer to save money

Really good finish & no problems since I fitted them to my roadbike (I'd probably go for a more all enveloping design for off-roading though). Look fine on the bike:

The Arundel brand are good and make the same design in both carbon and plastic so you can choose which ever suits your wallet batter

There is no such thing as a "stunning" bottle cage. It's like calling a woman's knee "stunning". At best, it just doesn't draw attention to itself.

The most amusing bit about buying lightweight carbon cages, is that its so you can attach about 2lbs worth of full waterbottle to your bike

FWIW the new Specialised ZEE composite/plastic ones are really nice for the money and good for MTB / compact frames

Dont have to tell me pal, I have carbon bits on my 32lb mountain bike. Problem is its also got 6inches of steel coil spring travel to even out the benefits!
