Leading good people down the path of destruction IMO

[quote]President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the plane could serve as a "messenger of death", but that its key message was one of friendship.

He is just seeing how far he can push his luck.

Ultimately, what happens may not be in his hands.

Looks like a prop from Thunderbirds. I'd be amazed if it actually worked.

Master plan? Definitely.

Ahmadinejad may have said:
I want to stay in power for as long as possible.
He's a politician, what do you think his aims are...

He actually said "This jet is a messenger of honour and human generosity and a saviour of mankind, before being a messenger of death for enemies of mankind," which is not quite so bad. Anyway, in my experience, a lot is lost in translation as people talk differently around the world.

So, are you implying that what he really said might even be more stupid? Who, BTW, is that thing suppossed to threaten.....not that it would actually function mind you.

Why do we think it won't work?

Iranians have been keeping f14's flying or years with nothing but paper clips and a shoe string. I think they gave the capability to make something like this work.

Also this nuclear powerplant doesn't achieve anywhere near the enrichment levels required for nuclear weapons.

He is a crazy chap though. It'll most certainly be our next war. Or Argentina

Looks like a very expensive target drone to me. I'm sure the US will be happy to test their air defence systems on it.

It's capable of reaching Isreal. That's all he's ever wanted to do.
This is one of those hot-spots that could drag most of the words big players in to conflict.

Yeah, cos when I want to convey frienship to others I often punch then in the kidneys. Cant be that long before USA and its "Allies" start sending their own messages of friendship over there

It doesn't look great does it!! laugh

But hell, I guess it's cheap and if he builds enough of them, doesnt matter how good it looks if it can do the job.

It certainly wont be fast judging by those wings and it ain't small so I imagine knocking it out of the sky will be a doddle. To be honest I can't see the point of it

IIRC, the news report stated that the 600+ mile range would not reach Israel.

Does no one else think that it looks kinda bad ass?
It looks like cold war era tech.

I approve, although I feel that it's a bit pointless with such limited range.

Good for defence though, which is what all weapons should ultimately be about.

The report says it's a bomber, capable of carrying a couple of 250lb bombs so I assume the defence is against ground attacks.....from where though? As I said it will be remotely piloted and slow therefor prone to Stinger/Strela etc

It looks cheap, so he could build sufficient for some to get through.

@ Jimbeaux, I'm at work so I'm limited with what I can do (or have limited knowledge to do more), but looking at Googlemaps, it looks like Isreal is no more than maybe 350 miles from Iran's western border. If someone could go on Google earth and check the distance properly that'd be good.

It doesn't look costly and I don't think they ever plan on getting one back since, you know, it doesn't even have a landing gear..

They might as well have just made an r/c missile.
