Solid fuel burner - must it be hetas approved?

As per the title, does the stove and flue HAVE to be hetas approved?

Stove needs to conform to the BS standard - should either be cast into the stove on have a plaque on it. Five inch flues do not conform unless an adapter is used to take it out to 6 inch, so beware of just buying cheap stove and 5 inch flue from ebay....

flue needs to be either installed by a HETAS installer who certifies it including a plaque (usually under the stairs) or inspected and signed off by building control.
