Busy weekend...tidy up...

Well i had a bit of a busy weekend tidying up the T350. Few bits were bothering me because they were looking abit shabby. So i got on the case...

New badges front and rear...

Decided to go for the TVR badge rather than the T350 badge as i dont like the font on the T350 badge.

Also gave the wiper assembly a full overhall. New wiper arms, aero blades, shiny bolts, and silicone hoses (will match the engine hoses when i get round to doing them).

Seat back bolts were looking abit rusty, so replaced them with some stainless items.

Thought the brakes needed abit of a brightening up to.

Next on the list will be abit of colour for the cam cover and silicone hoses for the bay. Also a bloody good clean of all the suspension components, cant see them for black grease.

Looks like you have the bug Adam! (nice seat back bolts!!)

Cleaning the chassis is well worth the effort. Here's a couple of mine before and after - was hard work!!!







After the above I then repainted the arches black. Still got to grease the bolt ends (white lithium) and swap the tie wraps to get the handbrake cable off the chassis tube (as it rubs the paint off) with double head ones.

Im a bufty at heart. I like my cars clean. This one will take a while to get to a standard im happy with. Mine is a tad more dirty than yours was. A good weekend of cleaning will get what is in reach through the wheel arches clean. But might have to get the use of some ramps for a day to do the rest of the underside.

For now though im going to enjoy driving it. Will get cleaning over the winter months.

Well done chaps, looking very good! I've been meaning to clean up the chassis ever since I first saw Graham Varley's chassis pics; puts us all to shame! Any tips on what products to use? I know there are products that detailers use to make the job much easier.

I did the following:

Sprayed with GUNK Green using a small garden sprayer.
Then scrubbed used various dish washing scrubbers - 50p from Tesco! The plastic handle ones with bristles on end.
Rinse and repeat.
When almost all gone used a non scratch pad and hot soapy water.
Rinse and wipe dry

Nothing fancy or expensive in the above, just need a lot of elbow grease and time! The above from start to finish took 2 hours (per corner) as a guide.

When i get round to it i will be using Autosmart products to degrease. G101 and a stiff brush should shift it without being to harsh. A good mate of mine is a detailer. So i get all my stuff through him. Once ive cleaned, i will probably give the inner arches a coat of paint, and at some point run the machine polisher over the car to get rid of all the swirls. Although i think the front end is behond that and going to need abit of paint.

I will have it looking tidy in the end.

I love the first TVR badge pic. Where did it come from. I hate the original black one on the Sag, but that first pic of the ali looking badge looks awsome! Just the badge i want!!! Looked on the tvr parts websites to no avail.

Where did it come from or do ya wanna sell the badge you removed maybe??

I had a look at your thread the otherday. Looks very nice. I will be running a rotary over mine soon to get rid of all the swirls...and i still need to get underneath with the degreaser and have a clean up.

The bolts for the wipers and assemby are a mix of m8 and m6 bolts, (4x m8 and 2x m6) found them on ebay. The wipers i think are by wipex 2x 18inch blades. The silicone hose i found on ebay, searched wiper water hose. Find one with an inner diameter of around 2 or 3mm. Just a quick warning if u are going to remove the wiper assebly, the 2 bolts on the drivers side also hold the fuse tray up inside the cockpit. Was an absolute nightmare to get them back on as its abit tight inside the cockpit.

Did you need to take the bonnet off to run the hose to the washer tank, or did you manage with it on?

I managed to do it with the bonnet on. But im only skinny, so could get my arms down between nose and bonnet when it was up. Would be far easier with the bonnet off.
