Xbox in dmz

I've had enough of the homehub and it's refusal to open NAT for the 360 so am thinking of just sticking the Xbox out there in the big bad internet to see if that works.

I know Live is a closed peer to peer network but there's just a little something nagging away telling me not to do it. Can't find any definitive answers via google so I'm wondering if anyone here has done such a thing?

I know I could just buy another router or switch ISP but I live within brick hurling distance of a BT exchange & have rapid connection as a result, Virgin were fking atrocious last time I used them and it pains me to spend money on something as banal as a router.

for my xbox i have the ports open. if you dont know the ports here they are

3074 UDP/TCP
88 UDP
80 TCP
53 UDP/TCP

but putting it through a dmz should open up the nat putting it in a dmz helped me with quite alot of connection problems i was having with my xbox.

If you're having that many problems then I would go straight for the DMZ.
I've had a BT HomeHub and it was the worst piece of unreliable st in the world.

To be honest, putting the 360 in the big bad world is unlikely to lead to any problems... I would imagine it's pretty safe out there.

My Xbox is sat on my DMZ switch, no issues what so ever. It's using a limited amount of ports anyway. Providing you don't multihone it by using a Wifi connection to your LAN it'll be fine.

My setup is;

Internet - Router - DMZ Switch - Firewall - LAN Subnets

I didn't have much choice as my firewall will only ever give a moderate NAT at best. Fortunately my ISP give me a stack of static IP's so it was easy to setup.

I've tried port forwarding, UPnP, port forwarding & UPnP, static IP, router allocated static IP -both with all previous combos, soft reset, factory reset, shouting at it & threatening to cook peri peri Busby for tea but nothing works.

DMZ is the last resort before I end up waterboarding it.

I've never had any issues with XBL at all, until I got MW2 the other day and I can hardly connect to a game

I have strict NAT and my mate told me to put my xbox into the DMZ

No real idea what he was talking about but google helped
