Are there any good places online to get used MTB kit? Specifically a frame.

Thanks

Southerndownhill.com
bikeradar.com

Also pinkbike but there are way too many idiots on there for my liking.

eBay sometimes throws up some bargains, but is very seasonal give it a couple of weeks and it'll be full of bikes.

thumbup My current commuter is a parts-bin special; the frame was donated FOC by a guy on STW.

Singletrack's the best place IMO - tend to get lots of folk being taken in by THE NEXT BIG THING, only to sell the bike/frame as soon as they realise they don't actually like it. I bought my singlespeed 29er MTB (niche-tastic) on there, used on tarmac 3 times in 12 months, for less than half what the seller originally paid...

Santa Cruz Chameleon, or maybe Cove Handjob. Ideally they'd be from 2008 or 2009.

for that sort of frame you want southerndownhill.com

STW is good for bargains as its rich old men constantly buying new bikes and selling their old barely used ones, but it tends to be more XC stuff, so for a hardcore hardtail type then SDH is the way to go

another vote for stw

agreed it does have a bit of an xc weighting but there is more hardcore stuff there too.

also (touch wood) find that the type of person on there tends to tell you the truth - condition is as described.

Currently building a 2nd bike almost exclusively from stuff bought 2nd hand off there and its been a successful venture to date!

The only thing is that the basic structure of the forum means that stuff disappears very quickly off the front page - you need to keep your eyes peeled!

I have a fluid formed aluminium frame if you are interested (heavy duty/long travel fork)! Was supposed to be a project but didnt have the time so bought an off the shelf! I bought it off a guy who ordered it for himself but ended up with similar circumstances to me!
