It really is crap, the agent is taking the piss employing people not up to the task and why on earth would the vendor allow the agent to publish it?

More to the point, in my experience the agent will get vendor's sign-off on the spin they're sticking in the brochure.

It must be difficult to write to a high standard of marketing bks all day, every day.

A house could be a total hole and you'd still have to come up with something nice about it!

Why would you not buy through an agent who cannot write? You're not paying their fees, and if the house is right, you only have to deal with them briefly.

Doesn't excuse it, but hey.

Well first of all, wtf is this "Now you have had a little tastier" ?

And next, why am I getting the idea there is no front to this house? every faces/is at/overlooks the rear?

I would prefer to avoid dealing with them, but they don't turn down clients who want to sell houses. And if the people whose house you would like to buy are not quite as agent-savvy as you, and go with their florid prose, then surely you'd do the deal? While remaining cynical about them all the way...

But in their favour they have decent, well taken pictures that can be shown at a proper resolution and the website does give the info you want.

What I really hate is when they have some bloke go round with what looks like a camera phone with grease all over the lens and then upload them to a site where you can only see a 'thumbnail' of 200x200.

It also looks like a nice house. Thing is, if it was the right house, would you not purchase it because of the awful text? I would see through that.

Mind you, I am agreeing with you, the text is very very bad. I don't even know what he's trying to do!

Actually its easy. A long time ago I was an estate agent. Bbasically yuou have an armoury of phrases and you just string them together. If the muppet that wrote that description above had worked for me they would have had a talking to!

Before you all pick on me, I am no longer an estate agent!

In that case I would urge you to be careful if you are considering reviewing any Agatha Christie novels on here...

Reading that, it sounds as though some trainee who has spent too much time watching daytime TV property shows has been allowed to get his paws on the PC and been allowed to write the details.

For £20k I'd expect them to be investing £1000 or so in copyrighting, photography and graphic design.

Gimmicks like that don't work in estate agency, especially in an up market niche, management should be shot after being slowly tortured by having their own property descriptions read out to them

What surprises me isn't that they've produced such crap, it is that you're surprised that they have produced such crap.

I'm quite impressed, our agent sent us through a draft that appeared to have been written by a 5 year old.

Having moved home earlier this year that brought back many amusing memories because we saw lots of that sort of thing.

Blurb with 'new paragraph' and 'check dimensions' pointlessly inserted in the middle indicated a moron typing out the dictated blurb and no-one bothering to check it.

FWIW, our EA was totally fking useless, consistently told us what he thought we wanted to hear instead of the truth, mislead us and our buyers and basically did F all to earn his money. But that's another story..............
