Finally someone that agrees with me! It feels good not to be alone
Most people on here prefer CoD 4, I liked MW2 as it helped me get a little better at FPS games, but overall CoD4 IS better.
I still play COD4 pretty much every day... have done for the last 3 years - never have i played the same game for so long! By far the best game EVER!
I had reset my ps3 to default settings as my ps3 kept freezing - i couldnt remember the email address i used to sign up to the playstation network so lost all my cod4 data - goodbye 43 days of play 10th prestige, golden guns, rank ~ 9000 and k/d ratio of 1.75
anyway started again and now have a k/d ratio of 2.25
its actually quite fun starting again - makes it a bit more of a challange.
I like both in different ways.
COD4 is more of a traditional FPS shooter, although there are still annoyances like people spamming grenades. It's generally less frustrating to play and skilled players are rewarded correctly.
MW2 puts more emphasis on the killstreaks, personally I do like this on the whole, and I also prefer the perk/ secondary weapon setup. The big downsides for me are Commando, tactical insertion and the deathstreaks; these should never have been in the game. It's graphically superior too.

Totally agree. MW2 had lots of new features which were kind of fun for a while but the core gameplay was broken which meant I soon got bored after a month whereas I played COD4 for nearly 2 years. COD4 actually involved the use of skill\tactics in order for you to be any good which is totally missing from the total mayhem fest that is MW2.
The biggest attributer to this was the very poor level design in MW2. I kept hearing that MW2 levels where going to be huge but to me they always felt very cramped and cluttered. Lines of sight where often spoilt for no good reason. I want to shoot that guy over there but I can't because they've decided to put a tree\rock\dodgy textured wall in the way. All the play is funneled into one or two areas per map which means your average life expectancy can usually be counted in single digit seconds. Unbalanced and overused perks\killstreaks plus the fact that despite being an 18+ game it seemed to be populated entirely by pre-pubescent teens just rounded it off for me. It's all a bit wham bam flash without any real substance. I guess it was partly a victim of it's own success. Infinity Ward felt they had to make it flashier in order to wow the easily pleased but forgot that COD4's tactical play was what made it so much fun and raised it above being just Unreal Tournement in a new skin.
