Me and the gf badly need a sunshine/relaxing holiday - but it will be the back end of sept before we go. That rules out Europe/Turkey etc so where would be a good place to get away for 1week/10 days?

Not really - plenty of places have "rainy" seasons when you expect them to be warm and dry, such as Mexico.

If you've nothing useful to add please keep your opinions to yourself.

I wouldn't rule out Europe.

Canaries are always good for some late season sun. Also have a look at Cape Verde - not exciting but if you just want a week of lazy sun it's good.

I'd say Canaries. Southern Spain is reasonable but I've been in September and it was warmish but not swimming weather. Canaries tend to be hotter. I've had a very warm holiday in September and it's warm even in January. Flights to Canaries are also quite reasonable. Try the Telextext website, they have holiday for under £250 pp.

Canaries or Egypt are the only places you can 'guarantee' hot weather in late sept, unless you want to fly a long way.

Southern Europe is often only warm, great for sight seeing etc but not good if you want beaches and sun.

We are often there in mid / late October for half term, and it is still pleasant then.

Its still warm here (80's F in late September, the sea is comfortable over 80F too) - but its bloody expensive to come here... Plus it may be a bit windy (Hurricane season) ;-)

Has anyone been to Morocco? Found a cracking deal in Agadir by the coast but not many reviews?

Went to Kos, second week of Sept last year and apart from one rainy day it was mid 30s C all week.

Also Mercury is guaranteed sunshine all year round as long as you stay sunside.

How about Jordan?

My wife and I went there in early October a few years back and the weather (as you'd expect) was lovely. There's also a lot to see in the country and it's easy enough to drive around (apart from herds of goats on the motorway, the frequent police/army checkpoints with the obligatory "give us a lift mate" and the generally poor quality of driving). Also, floating in the dead sea is a fantastic experience.

Rhodes should still be warm but may get rain by then too. Usually good value (read; cheap).

Agadir's not that hot, I went in July last year and temp was around the 30 mark whereas other places such as Egypt/Marrakech even would be mid 40's at that time of year so am guessing it will be warm at best in September.
