Best wood for exterior door panel

I need to replace a door panel in our front door as it has some rot through so that rules out filler etc.

The size is 590x510mm and is approx 30mm thick.

What type of wood would be best to replace it with?

I can't find anything thick enough in most of the regular DIY stores, so thought about sandwiching some 18mm ply with hardwood.

What sort of cost would you expect to pay for the above panel size?

How about using a sheet of 12 and one of 18mm WBP ply sheet back to back

edit , sorry I speed read it and thought you said hardboard , warning not to drink too much red wine a day after a general anaesthetic

assuming it will be painted
