Hi all
received my new camera today and thought I would share. It was a big decision weather I should buy it or not but went for it in the end, Its the Leica X1. I must admit the presentation and the build quality are fantastic (so they should be for the price..)
I have a Canon 400D as my SLR. The X1 will go out with me all the time though. Batteries charging now, weathers looking good so cant wait to get it out tomorrow and get taking some pictures.

Here are some pictures of the un boxing.. (sorry there not brilliant but they were taken on iphone4)

Like christmas..

Now to the camera..

Nice simple aperture and shutter settings.

Pop up flash

Thats about it for now, sorry the pics aren't great but il be out tomorrow getting some proper ones.

James.

Lovely things aren't they?

Not quite the same, but I got myself a Leica D-Lux 4 for snapping, silly money, but the feel, the tactility. It's a nice thing, and that's nice.

Thanks smile

Balmoral green, it is a lovely bit of kit, just seems to feel right.

The D-lux 4 was my first choice before I bought this but I must have had a rush of blood to the head then this happened... wallet is not happy now though...

Will post some tomorrow when the batteries all charged smile I was hoping it would be ready tonight though as I'm itching to take some random shots with it.

Lovely camera. Do you use an optical finder with it or just rely on the screen? If the latter, how do you find it?

Also, interested to see how portable it actually is? Can you put it in your pocket quite easily for example?

Hi mate
At the moment I'm using the screen. Its not too bad but in sun light it became quite tricky to see what I was taking. I think I will get the Leica view finder for it. Problem is its £240 eek but I think it will make the camera even better.
WIth regards to how portable it is, its quite chunky to hold but feel right in the hand, its not too heavy either, even though its made of metal. It can be put in to a pocket quite easily I think. I must admit its a bit larger than I thought it would be.
Here are some pics of it next to my 400D so you can get an idea of size.

Paddy N Murphy, the price was quite eye watering yes.. eek

The S2 packs quite a hefty price tag too... nearly fell of my chair when I saw this price....
