RANT

Everyone knows that the tax year ends 5th April, right?

So, being a contractor with a ltd co., I delayed all invoicing and payments (to me) from 20th March onwards until 6th April, so that my accountant would have my books nice and early in order to do my tax return and IR35 stuff...

I've just found out that my accountant was on holiday all last week and that he won't have my figures ready before the end of the week... and when do the revenue want their money? Friday 19th. Superb.

And is there any prospect of the poxy revenue phone lines being anything but engaged all this week? Ah non...

ARRRRGGGGHHH

Other problem is that my accountant is in Brighton or I'd have driven over there right now and kicked his scrawny ass..

Can anyone recommend a good tax accountant in Basingstoke? (actally, much as I'm loathed to do, I might go back to a permanent job so I don't have to f*** about with all this bollox again..)..

Well done on looking after enterprising small businesses you Labour Scum! Poxy BLiar government with their IR35 thievery and chicanerous money grabbing... and they'll doubtless want more when Gordon Bastard avails us of his plans to steal all my hard-earned to pay for scrounging in-breds and illegal immigrants. Doubtless he'll want to flush anything left over down the toilet that is the NHS.

Tossers. I'd so like to leave this country...

(Rant Over ... for now... )

Your rage is understandable! The IR calls us liars and cheats, then expect is to do their work for them for nothing.

Fortunately, the nature of the contracts I do, plus the amount I spend on "R&D", means I am in business in my own right, and not liable to tax under IR35. Two large fingers to Hector.

Hope you get sorted in time!

Allow me to add to your BLiar-ophobia. I work in the NHS (for the time being at least). Experience in the front line is so totally at odds with what Blair would have you believe. We actually have LESS money this year to spend on patient services than last year. They spend your hard earned dosh on political windowdressing like NHSdirect and Walk-in centers, while my local hospital has become a death trap. (no exageration, first hand experience.)

Whoops, you have tripped my pet hate button there LittleMiss.

Why are they always banging on about money for the NHS when none actually ends up there? Are we to see no more money go to the hospitals and casualty departments after the impending across the board tax hike on wednesday? I would bet my bile duct that we wont, the people out there who work as Doctors and Nurses who would in the event of an accident do their damnedest to save our and our loved ones lives (even you BLiar, or your pisshead son if he really does have 4 too many) and on that basis alone should have money thrown at them by every department of government, but is it, no, the money goes on bailing out RailTrack, or building a specialist alarm fitting centre so car thieves have something to do when not stealing cars etc etc etc.

Its a crazy situation when this nations nurses cannot afford even the smallest flats in the cities they work in when tube drivers who are basically playing with a large scalextric all day, who have the power to cripple one of the largest cities on earth are being paid double the money of someone so crucial the human life.

If it wasnt so harsh I'd like to see the entire NHS strike for 24 hours strictly over pay as thats the only way it seems to be possible to get the attention of this government.

Matt.

Plotloss, you've just come up with a good bloody idea!

Every Hospital in the UK runs with a Skeleton Staff for exactly 24hrs, the skeleton staff is there only to look after the "full time" patients!

A&E and OutPatients Clinics etc etc etc are all shut for 24hrs, if you throw a kettle at yourself, don't do it again!

That would really open the publics eyes and maybe even let the government see that infact the NHS isn't recieving any money and they CANNOT cope, 2,5 hr waiting times to be seen in A&E shows that!!!

And if one of us has a near-fatal car accident during this 24 hours.... ?

Could you explain this a bit more? I reckon I could claim a huge amount of what we do is R & D

I reckon I spend a good £4000 pa on computer equipment, software, training etc to enable me to keep my skills up to date and ahead of those of my clients. That way I continue to offer a valuable service to them, and they are happy to pay me large sums of money for valuable advice. I can also replicate and develop clients systems on my network of computers in my home office.

In my view, and I will argue this in court if necessary, this constitutes significant investment in my company, and proves that I am in business in my own right. If I am in business in my own right then I am not subject to IR35, no other "tests" have to be passed.
