No, I hear it's actually a riveting docu-drama based on real world conflicts, as told through the eyes of all your favourite 80s action heroes.

Darned was hoping for an old 80s style action flick.

If its a docu-drama, I don't think I'll bother.

If your brain cant work it out you'd best keep it with you or you'll never find your seat.

Saw it today. Its actually not too bad. Contains lots of extreme graphic violence, very reminiscent of the last Rambo movie. The body count in the last 30 mins or so is ridiculous! Some characters are very underused which is a shame, Arnie and Bruce Willis are only in it for circa 30 seconds.

All in all I would say not brilliant, but still worth a viewing.

I don't mind brain-out-the-door films, and I judge them on this basis, but I thought this film really was a crock of rancid turd wash. The script, ridiculously contrived set pieces and superfluous plot elements made it a real yawner for me. Apart from some funny moments with gratuitous violence, it was simply inane (and not in a good way).

The last Rambo film was much, much better.

Clearly though I am in a minority, as the average vote IMDB is over 8.0 (but it gets 42% on RT, which is more like it).

What's Arnie doing in it anyway??

Didn't he promise his voters that he would forget about films and concentate on his role as Governor of California....

I think, looking at the advert, that it's leave your brain back at your house so it doesn't get too close to the cinema where this is playing for fear of damage....

Mixed reviews?

Hmmm, I honestly thought it the most entertaining movie I've seen in a long time, and I watch a lot of movies.
Some cheesy, but very funny jokey parts. Great action and gore, sometimes comedy excessive. Terry Crews character with the AA12 was mental. Loved the film. Will most likely go and see it again soon.
A great line up, some awesome kill scenes too, I loved the way Gary Daniels character got done.

I've seen it and thought it was pretty good. It's nice to see an old style action film (like the last Rambo film also), instead of the filmmakers relying solely on CGI, or having supposed "action stars" that look like they couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag!

I do have a couple of gripes about the film though.

1)The way some of the action scenes, especially the fighting were filmed. There were too many close up shots and it was as though some of the action was "speeded up". Because of this you couldn't make out things clearly.

2)Some of the cast weren't utilized to their full potential. I won't go into any detail so i don't spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet, but the film revolved mainly around Stallone and Statham, while Jet Li and Gary Daniels weren't really able to show their true ability, and people like Randy Couture and Terry Crews only had one decent scene in the whole film. Dolph Lundgren was pretty good though (one scene in particular, YOU INSECT!!!), but Mickey Rourke's role was like an extended cameo!

I should imagine that it's got to be difficult having so many big names in one movie, but i just think it could have been balanced out better.

Hopefully in the next one, he can get the likes of Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Mark Dacascos and The Rock in there also. Stallone has said that he would like Arnie to have a bigger part in the next one too!

Anyway besides all that, I'll still be buying it on blu-ray when it comes out.

Anyone else think that scene with Sly, Willis and Arnie was massively awkward? (I mean as a stand out for awkwardness amongst the other badly acted, badly directed, badly scripted scenes)

This is one of my pet hates also. Son found his Transformers vid (Michael Bay dir) last night and made me watch it, cutting was so fast and such close-up action in every sequence you really could not tell what was going on. I'm getting on a bit i suppose.
