What saddle for my Giant SCR 4?
Discussion
I've got a Giant SCR4 which I've been using to try to get myself fit - however, the (standard) saddle is uncomfortable and, at the expense of being a bit girly, it hurts my bum.

However, I know squat about bikes so can someone advise as to what I need to look for in a saddle that would be more comfortable?
(ETA - those pedals have since been replaced by proper cleats

How many miles have you done on it? If you're just getting back on the bike after a long break, your arse is going to hurt regardless and will take a couple of weeks good riding to get used to it
If the answer is lots of miles, then whatever saddle fits you best. My arse prefers Selle Italia Flites.
Specialized do a body geometry range with different width saddles to suit your dimensions

+1chage spoon if you cant.
Everyones arse & riding style are different thus it's hard to find a "perfect" saddle by asking others as few have bought multiple saddles and tried them all side to side... they just know the saddle they are using works for them otherwise they would have bought another and as it works they won't go out buying another that may/may not be more comfortable.
That said as pablo said the majority of the cycling press and riders agree with the above, for £25 the spoon is a great saddle in loads of colour options with the opportunity to up to titanium for little more, Brooks say there saddle will last you as long as you live. I'm aware of someone deciding to upgrade to a new one after 30 years of use! They are meant to need a little wearing in til the leather moulds to your pelvic bones but when they do it's meant to be unbeaten... check out bikeradar, they review lots of products including saddles.

By cross chaining you will be causing accelerated wear and tear on the entire drivetrain and you will also likely get mis-shifts
