Yes it was an enjoyable day, good to see you again too. Thanks for the oportunity to drive your car, having allowed Simon to take to the track in mine I understand what that feels like !! Was interesting to compare, sorry mine wasn't playing fully at the end of the day. I'll get it sorted for the next time so you can have a go. Exchange is no robbery !!

So what got you thinking ????

Driver capability aside comparing our cars in terms of performance, driveability, useability, and the fact I couldn't get near you, I think you've spent your money far more wisely than I have.

I need to get the fuelling problem sorted out, then work out whether I want to spend money on a diff/cam change and maybe get rid of the 8 port head, or do I buy a towbar and a trailer.

Then again I might get rid of the lot and buy a Scooby

Neil, I told you the difference was the nut behind the wheel !! Joking aside, the car was going well this weekend 'till the fuel starvation thing. Obviously I wasn't going to rag your car as hard as mine, out of respect, but I did give it a pretty good go !! And I pretty much only "do" trackdays at Cadwell so I've got my lines off now. I'm not saying there the best or even the "correct" lines, but they work for me !!

I think the main difference between the two cars was in the handling and tires. The big "hole" in the power delivery on yours was the only problem to putting in a smooth quick lap. When it was pulling hard your engine has bags more power than mine, as you would expect. I wasn't convinced the equal-length driveshaft thing made much difference until I tried to get your car to put the power down in a couple of places !! Like on the top of the mountain and exiting the old hairpin.

If you are considering getting rid of the 8-port I'm interested too........

Chris, the car is pretty much as described in my profile, and I use it as my everyday drive. Ok so I only have a 10 mile round trip to work and back....... I've added an equal-length driveshaft kit to tame the torque-steer, and a rear anti-roll bar but that's it.

Chris, hmmm....tempting offer - nah!

Phil, I think the thing that impressed me the most was how you'd achieved the compromise between useable road car and a track car that can mix with far more expensive and powerful cars. From what I saw at Elvington Chris' car is very much the same.

I'm after a similar thing as ideally I need to be able to drive the car to and from the circuit, but the engine as it stands doesn't allow that. It was horrible driving home at 65mph on the motorway with the engine buzzing away at nearly 5k rpm.

I'm going to have a word with MBE again, and my Dad has found a weber dealer and rolling at Barnetby Top that I might have a look at. I was hopeing to get to Baldwins but distance is the problem again.

If I can get the fuelling half as good as that of the weber on Chris' car I will be much happier.
