Brookspeed's GT Plans
Stealth could return with Prosport LM3000
Martin Braybrook’s Brookspeed team is planning a spectacular a return to the British GT Championship in 2004.
It's hopes to put two cars out on track, including a freshly rebuilt Prosport LM3000 for the Cup Class - a “potential championship winning car and serious competition for the Porches and Ferraris ,” says Braybrook.
The team has confirmed one driver for this car, and is seeking a second, with a budget.
The team’s second chassis is a Stealth owned by Terry Pudwell. It's not one of those raced in 2001-2 though, this has been racing in Canada, and also competed in the Grand Am series in 2002, where it ran as a ‘Predator’, entered by Trak Motorsports.
“The intention is to put into place all of the restrictions and criteria to enable an N-GT entry for 2004 ,” says Martin Braybrook. One drive is available in the Stealth N-GT car too.

It was a good team but I thought they lost all there money back in the ISC days leaving there drivers out of pocket and with no drives ? when the championship went t*ts up.
I have just done the search and PIT Crusier is correct the company's have been closed down so who is using the old Brookspeed name ? I was told buy a pal that it is a guy called Tom or Tim Arnold so who is he ? and has anyone ever come across him ?

As for slagging off Brookspeed, you seem to have a personal greivance against them, for whatever reason. Former driver who lost a drive? Ex mechanic?
Whatever, there is more to the saga about how and what happened to Brookspeed two years ago.
I'm sure Petrol Ted will have the lowdown by Wednesday afternoon.
I am just surprised a company that was closed down and that someone is still using the trading name ?
Tom or Tim Arnold etc whoever I have never met them but they do seem to be boasting cars that appear in the classifieds.
So who is Arnold ? and has Terry Pubwell loaned them or sold them the cars ?
I imagine you got the rough end of the stick from Brookspeed at some stage (for which I genuinely sympathise, if that's the case), but little personal digs like those from today and yesterday are almost as irritating as the James Crofts/Stiggy Baddos handbag fight the keeps happening on other threads. People get screwed over in motorsport all the time and if everyone came on here to air their grievances the place would be busier than General Gassing.
Sorry Ted, if I'm overstepping the mark, but the Motorsport section here is starting to resemble the Monty Python sketch about the Lowestoft Townswomen' s Guild's re-enactment of the Battle of Pearl Harbour...
However, some of the very personal attacks on Brookspeed and the generally ill informed comment illustrate what a powerful platform the internet is for people who, under cover of anonymity, feel empowered to say whatever they like about anyone. I'd suggest we use this great service in a constructive way wherever possible, otherwise it'll be useless.
I'm happy to answer people's genuine questions about Stealth Cars if I can, but just one comment on the Brookspeed slagging off. The ISC debacle cost a lot of us a lot of money and caused huge problems for everyone involved, especially the smaller businesses like ours. We all make mistakes, and I for one thought it could have been a great series and still support people trying something new, such as SCV8. Brookspeed seemed to suffer more than most, but when Martin contacted me about having another go at British GT with the Stealth, I thought, let's look into it.
I've spent the last year or so taking a few steps backwards with Stealth Cars in order to, hopefully, move a step or two forwards.
We rebuilt both the ex Speedworx cars, with a lot of help from Hugh Chamberlain's brilliant engineers, and they're both in the hands of good European teams, with very good drivers (more info if anyone wants it) and they'll be competing in Euro GT and Belcar respectively. Recent testing suggests that they'll be very competitive. The German customer car is also driven by a very quick driver and will probably continue to race in Germany and Austria. So, with these three customer teams, along with the original road car in Switzerland doing track days, we'll have a lot more visibility this year.
The latest road car was completed and registered this January and the owner will be bringing it to the British GT launch tomorrow. It's the best we've ever done, after 18 months development, with air conditioning, reversing camera and many other refinements. Not quite a shopping car, but still a proper road car and our benchmark for future road cars.
The race car is coming back from Canada because the focus is all on those Daytona Prototypes now, and we're hoping to race it in British GT with Brookspeed if the car is allowed in. Otherwise, I'll head out to Belcar where the car is definitely on the list of approved cars. I've even got my medical booked, so if I get through that it'll beer chips and mayonnaise for me this season!
Sorry for the extremely long posting (does it break any rules?) but I wanted to put a little more information out there in case it's of interest to anyone!
Best regards
So, to clarify some points that have been brought up above...
With regard to Brookspeed advertising drives available in any car that appears in the classifieds; in fact, Brookspeed has only offered drive's in three different cars so far this year and all have been genuine; most recently the Stealth, which Terry Pudwell covers above; also the Prosport, which has recently been purchased by an associate of Martin's and is available to us to run in BGT; and finally there was the GTO Viper belonging to Peter Cook. I have know Peter for twenty-two years, we live in the same area and I visit him regularly at his offices for a chat; a few weeks ago, the purchase of the GTO Viper by another team fell through; Peter offered the car to me (for Brookspeed) and gave me permission to advertise drives available in it; It's that simple!
As there seems to be so much consternation over who I am and my involvement with Brookspeed, let me clarify the position... I have been involved with Brookspeed since 1998 when Neil Cunningham introduced me to Martin Braybrook and I subsequently found a sponsor for them. I was also responsible for finding their biggest sponsorship deal to date, with Chamberlain Scott International in Y2K; however, I do not own the team or any part of it.
My name IS Tim Arnold and my motorsport background began in 1977, I did courses with Jim Russell RDS and raced fairly regularly in Formula Ford through to 1982 and in various things in subsequent years, always underfunded! I have raced various single seater cars including FF2000 and FRenault. The high point of my 'career' was I suppose being offered the chance to replace Mauricio Sandro Sala at Madgewick Motorsport (I was told they regarded me as better than him at the time); following several tests, Robert Synge offered me a drive in their F3 team in 1987 subject to me finding about 20% of the budget... I couldn't so it never happened. I've held an ARDS Instructor's Licence for a number of years and recently renewed it for 2004, hence my ID 'instructor' on Pistonheads. I'm hoping to return to racing this year, possibly in BGT, but I will be out in something. There's more about me on my web site, www.timarnold.com
I hope this makes things a little clearer for everybody!
Tim Arnold
PS I would like to add that Martin Braybrook is one of the straightest, most genuine and loyal people I have met in many years in this industry!
I would love to see the Sealth cars back in BGT and if the Mossler can run why not ??
But the question is as Pit Crusier points out Brookspeed is no longer in business IF I am wrong please feel free to put me on the correct path ?
So why not have this car run with a well funded team that is already committed to BGT 2004 ? and has drivers or Sponsors in place to do the Job and show this wonderful cars potential as did Terry when he had Nigel Greensell drive it ?
Last point what will a road version cost me ?
On the suggestion of another team running the car, nobody else has ever approached me about acquiring a car - only Martin has had the imagination to think a little differently. No criticism of anybody intended here, just a fact. However, we could have a second car ready fairly quickly if there was the will and the budget to do it!
The price of the road car depends a lot on specification - let me know if you want some details.
Cheers and I hope to see everyone at BGT rounds this year!
