Hi all,

I'm sure i've seen before the breadvan shape in a 2.8 or 3.0 engine (i.e. not an 'M' engine)

Are this only available in LHD or just very thin on the ground?

ETA:

Wikipedia says:
The Z3 coupés were only available with the largest 6-cylinder engine offered in the Z3 roadster: the 2.8 L in 1999 and 2000 and the 3.0 L in 2000 for Europe and in 2001 for the US. The 1999 and 2000 M models were equipped with the 3.2 L S50 (S52 for North America) motor from the E36 BMW M3, while all the 2001 and 2002 models came with the S54 motor from the E46 BMW M3.

Still haven't actually seen any 3.0's?

It was definitely available on the continent in non-M 6-cylinder form, but only the M version was available over here.

You can tell them instantly from the back because they look considerably uglier thanks to the rear numberplate being down in the bumper and there's just a silly little chrome handle where the rear numberplate is on the M version.

2.8 and 3.0 were never offered in the UK - LHD only, I have seen a few LHDS in the UK.

For some reason, I think they look better than the M!o

I really like that in gold, wonder how much itd be to import and insure one and then sort out the boot and back bumper. Hmmm.

They do pop up for sale occasionally if you keep your eyes out. I was tempted by one when buying my Z but decided I wanted to scratch the drop top itch smile

They are an ultimate tourer I reckon.

Personally speaking, insurance! Agreed the Coupés make nice tourers.

I think there were some 2.8s made in RHD for the South Afrian market (does that sound right?), a couple of which might have escaped over here.

In fact I think there is a silver M-coupe replica around London which may actually be a 2.8 RHD car.
