Have we an official list of the times through the trap?

Not yet - Craig is still through it.

Exect it later this week.

Unofficial speed measures (Road Angel) puts the RUF fastest at 200mph.

working on it at the moment. Top was Adam at 200mph through the traps although he saw 209 on GPS.

the gps saw 200 exactly, the digital speedo 211. the most that was SEEN on the traps was 190, as it was getting harder and harder to see them at 200mph

So was the trap showing a different reading to GPS then? How accurate was the trap?

Traps are most accurate. Road Angel suffers from GPS "lag" as it's only a 1/2Hz system, and speedo's - well they legally have to never underread, and so they usually overread by differeing amounts. At 200mph the difference between a new and old tyre can make quite a difference!

the traps seemed pretty accurate 135 for the integra speedo reading 140. 140 is its theoreticle top speed so 135 seems about right.

Purely in the interests of PH science I am happy to find out.

Pass me the Ruf keys, a Road Angel and a day pass to Bruntingthorpe.

I will, of course, publish my results in full....

More accurate than the GPS, I'd venture, given that it was simply 2 pickups used for a distance/time calculation.

speedtrap guys said they saw the 200 while the speed display boards weren't working properly, they also saw Daz at 192 around same time. Next was the Murcielago at 190 and Derestrictor at 187

edited to say, I take full responsibility for them not workjing for 15 minutes, I ran over them by accident

Most I saw in my car was a 188 on the speed trap board and I saw the display on every run.

suffice to say (he says, rechecking the sheets )

The order was Adam, Daz, Costa in the Murky, Then Derestrictor.

Re the speeds though, from memory I think the Ruf is 560bhp and Daz's 450bhp so taking gearing out of the equation I'm surprised only an 8mph difference. Thoughts gents ?

ps. Daz, can you stop that wagging finger above me, its very offputting

Having been to these before I'm a bit gutted I didn't make this one, as it sounds like a spectacular day was had by all.

Unfortunately Henry and I were already booked with our GT2s on another event on the same day at RAF Bentwaters. It was advertised as 1.7 miles, but turned out to be only 1.1miles ie much shorter than Brunters, so the speeds were much lower.........bit pi55ed off really, as it was also really wet and windy.....

Next time we'll be at Brunters, although since the Ruf has already gone faster than a GT2's max speed I guess the competition is for second place.............

Yes i saw 211mph on the speedo with Gareth, who is coming in the F40 next time.

Gareth was using a Origin Blue tracker and he saw 200mph.

I have a great video of me drag racing Daz from a start, to 150mph, will post it asap

all the very best

Two things.

Top Speed is a cubed law against BHP
The effect that the gearing on the Ruf was "the low one"....

so that sounds roughly right...

www.pumaracing.co.uk/topspeed.htm for the low down.

Both cars will still be accelerating, albeit slowly, as even Brunters is not long enough to reach true max speed for cars this fast.

The X50 should max at about 195mph, with the Ruf maxxing at 212mph, according to their respective press claims.
