Just back from the Ferrari dealership
Discussion
Wish I had placed an order, but still many years away from that.
Wanted to take the wife to see the cars up close, as she's catching the car bug.
They no longer had the yellow F-50 (someone bought it after New Years) but they had a nice spread.
Shortly after we arrived they were swapping the cars out of the showroom, so got to hear a 575 with the tubi fitted. Heavenly.
Had a nice black 512 Testarossa in, and the usual compliment of 360s and 456s.
But the jaw dropper this time was a beautiful 250 GTO, blue with yellow stripe, fully race prepped. I didn't want to leave.
Oh, and Kasia is now hooked on the 360, so I guess I need to launch my own company and start saving.

I inquired on the yellow F50 and was informed it went to a couple in PA who own several other Ferraris. The GTO is owned by a customer who recently sold a 333SP, then bought the GTO from a Japanese collector. Must visit that dealer when over.

I saw that 250 GTO when it was for sale in Paris some ten years ago at an auction by Poulain - Le Fur.
It sold for mid £2m IIRC.
Just went back today and got a full tour from the manager.
It's now estimated at 7 Million dollars.
I'll try and post pics later tonight.

I posted the pics in General Gassing for all to enjoy:

I think that's 3445GT. It was a no-sale at Poulain le Fur in '91 then went from Symbolic to uber-collector Yoshiho Matsuda in Japan (you need 3 250GTOs, no - really, you do ).
It's worn a different body for much of its life (Drogo) and had virtually every component replaced but I'm not convinced that being, effectively, a replica will damage the value too much !

It was indeed purchased from a Japanese collector, so that may be the one you referenced.

Thanks.
It might have been repainted since '91, as I can't remember it being so clean at the auction ...
I doubt it...on the passenger side, there is some damage to the paint I noticed from up close. I think it's just been cleaned up a bit, and had the nuts polished off it.
