UPDATE FROM SEBRING
At four hours into the race, the two TVRs are still running, but not without drama. Despite having got as high as 8th and 10th in class early on in the race, the two T400Rs are now running 12th and 18th. There has just been what is known as a full course yellow as recovered one of the works Corvettes who broke down on a dangerous part of the track.
The real disappointment after the early strong showing was that the alternator of the Number 92 car failed for an as yet unknown reason. Although Bob Berridge managed to finish his stint in a strong position, the car had to be taken back to the awning in order to have the alternator replaced. The engineers did an amazing job to get the job done in double quick time but we lost something like eight laps while the job was being done. The car is now running sweetly but has its work cut out to regain all that lost ground. However, Berridge is back in the car at the moment, after good stints from Lee Caroline and Michael Caine, and is slowly creeping back up the leaderboard as this most gruelling of tracks takes its toll on the rest of the field.
Meanwhile the Number 91 car pounds round this unbelievably bumpy track, keeping out of trouble and with Amanda Stretton having just handed back to TVR Tuscan Challenge frontrunner Chris Stockton, who is due to hand back to team owner Gareth Evans in another hour’s time.
