I have heard so many bad stories about a National "High Street" Tyre and exhaust firm I thought I would share a good one with you!

Ted, I am not going to name and shame, but name and praise!!!

They are of course Kwik Fit!!

On Easter Saturday I popped into my local branch, Largs, to have my tracking done, within minutes and without looking at my tracking they disgnosed it as knackered wishbones (I had this verified by Ford later that day!) and that I also had one bald and 3 balding (also correct)! I had the tyres done there and then and the wishbones ordered! And since I have had top class service! I am so impressed!

They changed the wishbones on monday, and on wednesday the car felt Odd! (I posted a thread about tracking that day!) Took it back in on Thursday they discovered there was play in a ball joint on one of the new wishbones! "We have to order it in, I'll do it now sir!" And they did it while I was standing there! Quality!

Had a phone call yesterday afternoon, "I am really sorry sir but my supplier was out of stock of your wishbone this morning, I am hoping they will arrive this afternoon, but it will be late so I doubt that we will be able to fit the new one today!"

Phone call around half 5!
"My supplier still hasn't delivered your wishbone sir, his supplier's van broke down in Glasgow, Should be here in the morning!"

This is dealer quality service from Kwik Fit! My dad doesn't get that kind of service from his Volvo Dealer!!!

I just received a phone call from them this morning,
"Sorry for the delay sir, but we now have your wishbone in and can fit it anytime that suits you, we close at five, so for it to be done this afternoon you would need to be here for around 4ish! We are a bit busy at the moment but if you give us an hour or two to clear these jobs, we can get right on it and have you sorted by late afternoon!"

Whats going on here?!?!?!
In days gone by, people would be chasing these places to find out about ordered parts etc!!

I'm just on my way over there now to have it done!!!

I like it!!

its a shame a certain TVR dealership isnt like that.... or as said before the one that rymes with Hemington Bar.

Which garage sorted it for you the ford garage or Kwik fit??

Also on this had my car serviced 12000 mile and MOTed last week grand total of £80. and that was a FORD Service. I was shocked.

I've had some good experiences at Kwik Fit too - though in my case it was because the guy I was dealing with was an ex-TVR dealer's mechanic. Even gave me a container of Mobil 1 to be going on with!

It was a Kwik Fit place! Don't think there is a Ford Garage in Largs anymore!

Anyway, quick update!

Pulled up, Area Manager came straight up to me, "Afternoon Sir, we have your wishbone waiting, one of the boys will get on it straight away!" And they bloody did too, within a couple of minutes, he had it on the ramp, jacked up, wheel off and was hastily air-gunning the nuts on the wishbone!!!!

Turned out there was play in a spline on one of the ball joints, he secured it and it was fine! half an hour and it was perfect! He even straightened my steering wheel FOC!! That is definately what I call service!!

Think I might use them again for big work!!!

I CAN OFFICALLY RECOMMEND KWIK FIT IN LARGS AS BEING A TOP CLASS ESTABLISHMENT!!

Customer Service is obviously there top priority!!

My first (and last) experience of said company was when I responded to their advert offering free puncture repairs. My car happened to have a slow puncture so I took it there (a 20 mile round trip).

They promptly said 'Nah mate, that's not a puncture, it's a split, we can't fix it - but hey, we've got those tyres in stock new, only £125.' I promptly left and took it to my local garage who fixed the puncture for £6.

Don't you just hate it when they're fresh off a sales training course?

Is this the same mob that wanted to fit 4 disks, 2 calipers and pads all round to my friends Honda. This eventually involved me in a 100 mile drive to confront them with a micrometer and the data book. Rear disks had 0.002 mm wear, fronts had 0.006 mm wear. No discernable runout was apparent and the calipers were fine. I went balistic and the guy put the whole thing back together for free.

I always had good service from the Kwik-Fit in Stratford-on-Avon - once went there for a backbox (and maybe a 2nd silencer - couldn't see the hole too well)for my golf (just after I bought it off my mum), and once up on the ramp it was clear I needed both back box and 2nd silencer (they showed me the holes). I OKed it and sat down to wait (they had the stuff in stock). 2 mins later a confused fitter comes in and says 'Are you sure it's a 1.8? Because the new exhust doesn't fit the old centre section' After getting out the book with all models & their exhuast diameters and measuring the old exhaust with calipers they discovered that the idiots who'd previously fitted a new system to it (at the garage in my parent's village I always though were not too straight) had put a 1.8 jetta exhaust on it (smaller bore than the golf's)!! So I had the choice of putting jetta bits back on or replacing the whole system from the manifold back - they gave me a discount on the whole system so I went for it rather than put the wrong bits back on. But all in all I have never been unhappy with their service.

I think that Kwik Fit in general are improving their Customer Service, but there will be some bad apples left when the tree comes good!!!
