Transit 120 Diesel Pump Broken linkage Help Please
Discussion
I have bought a transit it has a broken linkage on the side of the diesel pump, I think it has something to do with the cold start. There is a plastic linkage hanging downwards to where it used to connect to a small lever. I have removed the broken lever and repaired it, but it was located on a splined shaft of which I am not sure of its correct position. I do not know if this will cause any problems. Please help as I know nothing about diesel engines. Petrol is more my thing!
Hmmmmmmm you must have an old transit.
we havent used that pump since mid 94.
You have the LUCAS CAV rotary pump, and the linkage you refer to is the cold advance linkage.
the engine should run ok, but it'll be very lumpy at tick over when cold.
you can buy a repair kit for it from lucas delphi dealers, the thing is preset as long as the adjustments on the top of the linkage havent been messed with.
