Ok, so what's the PH concensus on this?
I think he has every right to refuse to see someone who hasn't the grace or manners to show their face in his office,

What next turbans on sikh's, jewish Kippah's. Why does he need to see her face?
We should respect their religion, some of them actually like wearing the face veils as opposed to being forced to wear them.
It a tricky subject which is never going to be resolved.
Because a veil hides the face which is the primary social tool of our species. Because it is cock all to do with religion. Because we honour other races customs so should receive the same respect. He stood to represent his constituents. Women who wear the veil are amoung them. He should therefore meet them, and do so with respect to their beliefs.
How does he actually KNOW who the person is, if he can't see them? Has all sorts of implications for confidentiality and the like..Edited by fadeaway on Sunday 25th July 10:37

Hear, hear. In business you wouldn't insist on someone removing their veil. Why should a public servant, again, feel they can work to their own rules.Edited by fadeaway on Sunday 25th July 10:37
It sounds like he is being an arse for the sake of it and should perhaps grow up rather then trying to score petty points.
