Identification of part on S3 fuel system

Hi Folks

I ve just started a body off restoration of an S3.
This evening I removed the fuel pump and the associated pipework which is coupled to it.
From the pump (working back to the tank) there is a small piece of pipework (about 2" long) which is then coupled to a small round metal chamber. The inlet and outlet of this chamber are set at 90 degrees to one another with the pipe to the tank fixed to it.

I ve just cleaned it up and discovered its perished through with pit holes!

Any idea where I can source this item please???

Thank you all very much for your responses.

To save me dying of ingnorance can anyone tell me what a fuel damper does? As you have guessed, I am not a mechanic by trade !

Dampes the fuel of course!! What did you expect????????????????

Theres a little rubber cushion in the middle which (I guess) stops the pulses from the fuel pump reaching the injectors. See page eight

??? are you not describing the pressure regulator here Norman ?

that little baffle thing in the pipe between the tank and the pump is what he's asking about isnt he? (like item 14 on your link earlier)?

I have no idea what it does as I have not had one to bits... sorry.

I was hoping it was a kind of non-return valve so you could remove the pump or filter without draining the tank, but I think I read on here that it is straight through with no internals ???

nice pics Norman and that answers my question anyway... apart from turning the pipe through 90 degrees in a tight space I cant think of anything else it does ?

The only thing I can think off is that the rubber cushion damps down any fuel pulses from the punp.

In the middle pic the end of the pen is resting on the cushion.
