Bike needed for LEJOG, any helpers?

So I have been set to do a lands end john o groats mid August, but the bike I had managed to borrow has been requested back, as its owner is moving abroad. As a result, Im screwed! I want to get myself a roadie, but my current inbetween jobs status limits that to bugger all!

So out of the goodness of anyones heart, can I borrow a road bike off anyone here? Long shot, but Im pretty desperate! The ride is in aid of a childrens hospital, and we are hoping to raise a good few £k, as well as enjoy the trip, but as is, I wont be involved....

Perhaps a bike shop could help or offer sponsorship if Im lucky?

Probably not much use to you but I have a road bike you can use if you can get someone to pick it up from Hertfordshire (or London)..

Are you going to be carrying kit or do you have a support vehicle carrying all your kit?

What size do you need?

Not that I have a road bike to lend you but there's no use someone offering you a bike if it needs panniers etc...

Size would be a good consideration!

Im 6'2", but with an above average length of back... so prob a fairly big bike.

The current (perhaps silly) plan is to just take tech kit (1x each of cycle shorts, shirt and jacket) so no panniers required mk1fan.

The bike I emailed you about would fit you - but if you want to use it you are going to have to let me know in the next 2/3 days, as I'm off on holiday on Friday for a week, and will be away for work for a bit after also.

Try and get a mate to drive and carry your kit - will make a huge difference. And if you insist on only taking a single pair of shorts, then best of luck... and wash them and dry them at the end of each day. You'll need plenty of 'crotch cream' too. I did an aggressive E2E last month and by the fourth day there were folks wearing two pairs of shorts at the same time!

Give yourself plenty of time to adjust to the saddle etc. of whatever bike you take. Try and get a few hundred miles in before you leave. If you do go ahead and do the ride unsupported then make sure you know how to fix your bike in the middle of nowhere and have spare tubes etc. Hope it goes well, best of luck, good cause!

Just got back from me 'olidays, and have heard no more from you. I presume therefore that you are not interested/no longer require the bike.
