Xbox hard drive switch?

Evening lads and ladies... My mate is buying my Xbox 360 elite from me, but currently has a broken (what he thinks is a) 360 arcade. Are they compatible with one another? Easy enough to switch?

yep I broke an elite an got an arcade and simple swap of the hard drive and all good

The follow on to this is: If you buy a new Xbox, how can you transfer all of the old stuff over?

It's an old Elite, so it will be fine.

For new ones you well need a transfer cable I think.

I replaced my elite and just swapped the drives, kept the old drive with the saved games etc on it. Had a few problems with registering on live, you need to tell live you have done this, give them some code off the new xbox and all was fine.

Xbox is now able to use USB flash drives as well...
