It's fine. There isn't that much mess, but I do clean them out every day. Obviously one hates doing the 'dastardly deed' - or at least I do - but they're going to a better place.on the other, I'm thinking,
at the purging etc....I have a feeling the French snails you get grilled in garlic butter must be farmed, since the wild ones are notably chewier and have a more earthy flavour. Personally I prefer these stewed, though I don't see why you couldn't cook them long and low in the shell, and then grill them at the end.
