I had the gas boiler serviced today and before the bloke left he told me that the pressure was low so he'd taken it back up to 1 bar. I said, "Ah, excellent", and nodded sagely. I may also have winked.
The thing is, I have no idea what he was talking about! What did he do, and why?

System pressure was low. You have a small leak.

I presume you have a combination boiler where the heating system is pressurised. The pressure of the water in your system has for some reason dropped so your plumber will have topped up the water (increased the pressure).

On the front of your boiler there should be a gauge indicating the pressure. About 1 bar is where you want it. You can top it up easily yourself using the filling loop.

If you continue to lose pressure you may have a small leak, keep an eye on it.
