Camera History? - Been offered a s/h EOS
Discussion
Hi knowledgeable ones
I'm looking at getting my first DSLR and in conversation it appears a friend has an EOS350d which they're going to sell. I can judge prices etc from ebay, but my question is was this a good camera? I have found the archive details on the Canon website but am trying to piece together the model history i.e. has the 350 been superceded more than once? what's the current equivalent etc...
off to google next - so any info would be gratefully received

The direct update was the 400D
After that, the 450D etc were I would say, a increase in overall spec.
I had a 350D from new until recently, good little camera, got some cracking shots from it. It certainly has it's limitations. Sizewise, it's a little on the small side. I found that to make it comfortable, I had to fit a grip to it.
Noise levels, well it'll certainly produce noisier images at higher ISOs than modern stuff, but that's to be expected. It's noiser, but certainly not bad until you hit 800plus.
I really liked mine, I kept it as a 2nd body to my 40D and only sold it on when I bought the 7D.
Price? I did a mates rate deal for a friend. 350D. 17-55mm 55-200mm grip and guide books for £200. That was around february. Ebay rates at the time were around £250-270 depending on spec.

Makes mine sound like a bargain-i only paid 250 for it new(ish...). I still use it as its my only camera and I can't afford to upgrade, but i do keep looking at lenses. The main thing i prefer on the newer cameras is the wider run of focus points, but i expect i'd find more if i was to play with one for longer.
I used a 350D until I replaced it with a 7D last December.
All the shots on my website ( www.zarphag.com ) are taken with it - need to update that one day!
Was OK camera - good IQ at low ISO, above ISO 800 it got rough though.
Focus was OK on center point, outer points was iffy esp in low light.
And conrinous drive at 3fps in raw soon ate the buffer.
For a good price its well worth a punt does everythign you wouldneed from a first SLR.
