We've got two Grohe wireless showers and an Aqualisa Digital bath + shower.

Can't tell you how good they are as the tiling isn't done yet.

Our plumber didn't like the Aqualisa (claims that he's had trouble with them in the past), but it has the better (ie. solid metal and well designed) controller - whereas the Grohe probably has the better thermostatic mixer unit (at least it's big and very solidly built).

Both systems require power (obviously) and a good amount of space to hide the mixer away. As for fittings, we mixed and matched as neither company sell a full set of handsets, rails, diverters and heads that do all the things you want and look good.

Cheers Tuna.

I favour the Grohe vs Mira, as the Grohe has flow control.

I would prob give Aqualisa a wide berth having had their shower kit before.

Just to follow up... we finished the grouting above the bath today, and tried out the Aqualisa kit. It gives a 'one click' bath fill - you press the button and it runs a bath for you at the right temperature and to the right depth, switching off when it's done. The bath has an overflow filler, so no taps on show, and next to the control we have a diverter so you can switch between running the bath and running the shower.

It's pretty impressive - choose whether you want bath or shower, press the button and it lights up once the water is up to temperature. Flow seems good (though our whole system probably needs adjusting) and it does 'just work'.

I'll take some photos tomorrow.

Now for the other bathroom...

The Aqualisa thing sounds great.

I went for the Grohe pumped version in the then end, because in addition to the flow control, it can handle a pressure differential between H+C feeds (the Mira one didn't). I don't know whether there is a pressure differential, but the pipe-work routes are at present, very different (the H being very convoluted).

Incidentally, Grohe are phasing out their present wireless shower kits at the end of the year, with new products due in Jan 2011.

I have another shower to fit to a finished bathroom (no access to any pipe-work below ceiling), so the wireless kit is the only solution without trashing the place.

I didn't know an automatic bath filler existed!

Can it be retrofitted though?

The Bath-o-matic one can be but unless you're integrating it with a wider control/entertainment system they aren't overly cost effective.

Nice bit of kit though.

As far as I can tell, the Aqualisa one just works on running the bath for a set amount of time, so as long as you've got somewhere to put the mixer unit (about a foot square by four inches deep from memory - it's buried under the bath now), it can be retrofitted. However, check out how it actually connects to your bath - we use a overflow filler and our bath has no tap holes so it looks neat.

The bath-o-matic is rather over the top - costs something like four grand to do what a two hundred quid mixer unit can do. Sure, it adds bubbles for you and has an iPhone app, but that's just gadgetry for gadgetry's sake. The moment you start thinking that your bath needs a menu system, you really need to start getting out more.
