I assume you're visiting?

Here's a few shots I've taken just quickly with a little compact - sorry they all have bikes in them:

Culver down looking back towards Shanklin:

Hurst Castle from Alum Bay:

Tennyson Down from Compton bay car park:

Get yourself on top of any of the downs on a clear day and you'll be spoiled for choice...smile

Get yourself down to the River Medina near Cowes for whats left of Paddlesteamer Ryde. You cant get too close because of safety fencing around the hull and the silted up inlet in front of the ship. I cant remember the name of the Marina off the top of my head but I'm sur you can find it quite easily.

Oh and another vote for the Compton Bay area, the drive along the old military road is stunning!!

You could try the paddle steamer "Ryde" - currently rusting away at Island Harbour nr Medina, but she's stuck in tidal mud/silt at the moment and it's quite a dangerous place to get within touching distance if that's your thing (I surveyed the site the yr before last)

There's also the houseboats in Bembridge Harbour, some of them are occupied but some are rusting away, obviously they're private so you can't go jumping aboard but they're right next to the main road that runs the perimeter of the harbour

Not sure where to try for jettys and the like, as a big sailing area most landings and boats are well maintained and used frequently

You could also try Wooton Creek from the entrance up past Fishbourne to Wooton Bridge and also Yarmouth around the odd boat yard there also up the river to Newport from Cowes via water taxi.

If it's not too late to change your plans, Alum Bay is interesting:

While you're there, a trip out to The Needles is worth doing. If you want a decent pic of the lighthouse though you'll need the more expensive fast boat that takes you further out.
