Plant ID please

My mum gave me some plants for the greenhouse. Aubergines, peppers and tomatos. I don't recognise this as being one of those plants, can someone let me know what it is going to be?

Looks like a Maxixe to me

No, she has no idea when I asked her. She planted them too! This is the start of the flower.



Some of the spikey fruits have been there for at least a month and haven't changed shape or got any bigger. I was waiting for it to grow into a cucumber shape or something similar but nothing. Maybe I should break one open?

Google 'Maxixe' - if that is what it is then its about full size, just needs to ripen a bit

There is the long stem bit growing out of the Maxixe, but these don't have one, unless one will grow? I am not convinced it is one. I think I may go and break one open and see what is inside!

Looking at the way that's divided up it's a similar structure to a pomegranate.

By looking at the flower, I'd say its a Datura (Angel's Trumpet). The spiky thing is the resulting seed pod.

Woo hoo!! That's it! Thank you. Having just read about it, the last thing you would want to do is eat it and there is no real use for it so I think I may dig it up and bin it.
