I've read various threads about traction control on Tuscans etc. (SHPub's Griff 500, for example, has had one for ages and, according to Steve, is fantastic).

Looking at the same problem from the opposite end (i.e. keeping the tyres in contact with the tarmac under heavy braking load), has anyone on PH fitted an after market or modified (from another car) ABS system to their car?

If so, does it work?

I don't want to start an argument on the pros and cons of ABS and TC (as this has already been discussed to the Nth degree), I'm just looking for help and advice from those who have fitted, or have considered fitting ABS, or have details of ABS systems available and the suitability of these and OEM units "poached" from other cars.

Thanks

plipton

PS. as you may have gathered I've had 2nd thoughts about selling the Tuscan so the advert's been deleted!!

If it help the rear brakes are the same as the ones on my vw transporter. IIRC when a last brought new ones for the van from vw they were actually made by lockheed. so they are obvoiusly generic parts.

Nope and I wouldn't want too either. I hate ABS! In the wet, it might give an advantage, in the dry I have saved the day several times, not having ABS.

It looks a beauty (although I can't help thinking you want to get those cats removed ) and had you timed it just when I am ready........well let's just consider the words "hand", "off" and "bite"

Rick, drop me a line, you know you want to... It's a criteria of the sale you know, the C has to go to another PHer.
